Dodgers first home in LA
Sat nights game was definitely a once in a lifetime chance, and really was well worth the day we spent on campus. What was interesting was the Dodgers played with NO left fielder. They had 6 infielders. Boston however, played a normal positioned game.

Luckily we got to campus at 11 am so we got choice parking, i heard the line for the shuttles to Dodger stadium after the game were colossal.

Pregame, they had the living 1958 championship dodgers signing autographs. Of note, I got Carl Erskine, Duke Snider, Wally Moon, and Sweet Lou Johnson autographs (amongst the other players as well). Don Newcomb and Steve Garvey were there as well.

Al Michaels did the introduction which added Vin Scully to the Coliseum Hall of Fame.

One funny thing that happened: Kareem threw out the first pitch, and the ball fell about 10 feet short of the plate, and rolled to the catcher. Everyone boo'd. He then grabbed another ball, and "SKYHOOKED" it to the catcher. Really comical.

Usually i'm not a fan of the Wave at games either, but that was the craziest thing i've ever seen. The vertical height of the wave coming at you was really out of this world. The players in both dugouts started doing it too. Really cool.

That being said, i've taken today off, and i'm off to opening day. The hopes are high this season, and everyone is in first place. "its time for Dodger baseball"

Coliseum Game
We're off to the Coliseum shortly for the zoo-that-will-be the once in a lifetime opportunity to see the Dodgers play in their old home, the Coliseum.

I read on UniWatchblog that Ebbets Field Flannels is doing the Dodgers' jerseys for the game at the Coliseum tonight, but with one major mistake - they will have names on the back -- to me this isn't that big of a deal. I'm sure some purists will be most upset.

Should be great to actually get to see a venue from the past. I'm betting our view is going to be horrible, but (as i've told my wife) it's all about the "experience".

Draft thoughts...
I tried a new approach this year in my fantasy baseball drafts. Previously I drafted 1 big bat and went straight to pitching. This year, I went for a catcher with a bat in the second round. We'll see how it pans out for me.

In my experience, that catcher spot is a tough vacancy to fill with a bat.

I also avoided the old timers -- too much injury. I look forward to Kemp, Loney performing well this season, and tried to get one of the 2 in both leagues i'm in.

Treasures of LA March Madness
Los Angeles magazine is staging a March Madness-ish tournament where the 64 greatest treasures of LA battle each other (in a vote).

In a matchup that should have been a blowout, the downtown Central Library unbelievably upset the Dodgers announcer and Hall of Fame Broadcaster, Vin Scully!

Equally unfortunate, this upset also derailed a potential Elite Eight matchup between Vin Scully and In-N-Out Burger...

That would've been a close one.

Radios set and dialed for the season.
So i've got all my bases covered so to speak:

1. MLB Gameday for spring training (on my pc)
2. XM (satellite) radio for all games
3. Normal (terrestrial) radio for the pregame and postgame
