As many of you know, James Kim, senior editor at CNet passed away after attempting to save the life of his wife and 2 daughters in the south west area of Oregon.

I didnt know James personally but I was very familiar with his work. I enjoyed watching him on TechTV in years past as well as his reviews on CNet. After reading the words that other’s wrote about him, about James the colleague, James the husband and father, and James the person, really gave me an almost personal connection to him.

Watching the Kim family story unfold touched me pretty deeply. As a new-ish father, the picture of him and one of his girls on the Cnet page really put the whole thing in perspective.

I hoped for a much better outcome but in the end James sacrificed himself so his wife and girls would live. I was saddened to see that love alone was not enough to bring them all home together.

My prayers are with his wife Kati, and his daughters, Sabine and Penelope. Goodbye James, You were the kind of person I would have liked had I met you, the kind of person I wish there were more of.

the mlb winter meetings are underway. currently i'm excited for the rumors/headline "Dodgers, Angels talk to Red Sox about Ramirez".

I'd love to see Manny on either team, and be able to see a future hall of famer here locally. In all honesty, I'd *almost* prefer Manny on the dodgers, just to spice up the largely unwatchable national league.

In addition, i'd love to see A-rod to the Angels. A decision should come down later this week on either rumor.

finally scored a tmx 10-year anniversary elmo for kayla for xmas.

CNN says tmx elmo is the "hot" item for xmas this season, they are near impossible to get, the link now says out of stock.

glad that ordeal is over. I should have bought 2 now, thinking back on it. looks like there's money to be made on ebay for them...
