Getting ready for Kayla...
After going over all of the things we have left to do, i've come to one conclusion, that we have a heck of a lot of a heck of a lot of things to do.

We are also now aware that we have a heck of a lot of things to do. I have also just realized we've done less of the things I thought we'd already done.

On the plus side, we have done some things. And by "we" I mean Krisdee:

Bought and returned things for our registry.
Organized the nursery.
Washed Kayla's clothes.
Signed us up for classes.
Made a stuff-to-buy registry.
Attended said classes.
Expanded her uterus to hold and maintain a fetus.

Not to be outdone of course, I've:

Put things together.
Gone to the doctor with Krisdee.
Fixed the things I put together wrong.
Kicked and cussed at the things I put together when the fixing of the things I put together didn't appear to work out as well as I thought.
Panicked.

So all in all things are rolling right along.

Chuck - E - Cheese
So the other night we ended up at Chuck-E-Cheese. While in line to buy a drink, I felt a tug at the corner of my shirt. When I turned around I saw an obese kid standing there, with his hand out asking me for a token. He was one of those kids that was so obese you couldnt tell his actual age.

Anyways, I thought I would use this as a learning experience for him. So I asked, "Why should I give you a token?", his immediate response was "So I can play the games, I have it at home", and I responded with "Well next time you should bring it so you can spend it, it's alot of money", and the kid fired immediately back with "its ONLY 25 pennies", and took off.

Looking back on it, I don't think anyone learned anything from that experience... Sigh.

FedEx Furniture?
We've all been there. Fresh out of college, not having a dime to your name yet, and no furniture yet either. Some of us are still like that (Chuck).

Anyways, this afternoon I ran across a website about a guy named Tom who did not have any furniture in his apartment. He ordered FedEx boxes (for free) and built FedEx furniture for his apartment.
http://www.fedexfurniture.com/

Pretty ingenious. I guess FedEX is sueing him now as well. Meh.

Atkins on its way Outkins
So Atkins is dead.

Imo- the big problem with Atkins was the fact that it made Carbs an evil word. Fruit and Whole Grains are NOT making this country obese. Its the colorful boxed frankenfoods throughout the grocery store that are. And contrary to Dr. Atkins, Bacon is NOT a health food.

Anyways, the Atkins diet I feel has been replaced by the South Beach Diet now. Today, if you walk into a grocery store, you see the South Beach Diet everywhere. Not only are the books ubiquitous -- but now you see cereals, meal-replacement bars, and probably other crap in the many aisles I never visit.

Its lame. Are you in "the zone?" on "the beach?" "low fat" "high protein" "low protein" "high altitude, high carb" on the "grapefruit diet". Its a joke.

It just takes a little discipline, good nutrition, and a healthy active lifestyle to acheive a fit physique, but I think most americans are just looking for the quick fix. . .
