Giant Microbes
I could see Chuck getting our baby to be one of these.

He's SO going to be "the weird uncle" in a couple of years...

Our Worst Kept Secret :)
Guess who's pregnant?!? Yep Krisdee!!! We're about 4 mos in. BabyOne's due date is sometime at mid/end of August.

We are SO excited!
We have been reading every piece of literature about being pregnant, what's supposed to happen at what week, how our baby is developing each month, all the things we have to watch out for and be aware of.

Krisdee has been stuck in bed quite a bit with nausea, headaches, dizziness, tiredness and loss of appetite. The first 3 months were pretty bad. Her doc put her on some serious prenatal vitamins, and things have been a bit better since.

Anyway, things are all good at the moment. Heh, We're giddy with excitement, and now even more so that we've told the world about it!

So yeah, at about 12 weeks, we got to meet BabyOne for the first time thanks to some great new technology. We saw and heard the whoosh of a heartbeat (185 per minute), saw the baby wave its little arms and leg buds around like a mini kung fu fighting jellybean, and learned that both the baby, and Krisdee, are perfectly healthy.

We're more than excited about this addition to our family. We're ecstatic and invigorated. Having a baby was a strange concept to wrap our brains around until that morning -- seeing the baby squirm about in Krisdee's innards really made it real. We wanted to wait to tell people until we had that exam, and got to see for ourselves that things were going well, and this was really for real. It's for real.

Kuhio Day
You learn something new everyday.
Although I am familiar with Hawaiian history, I did not know today was a holiday.

Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole was born on March 26, 1871 in Koloa, Kauai, and was in line to become king before the monarchy was overthrown in 1893. He went on to represent Hawaii in Washington, and was credited with paving the way for significant local growth, from the dredging of Pearl Harbor to establishing the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Kuhio is best remembered for his successful effort to get Congress to pass the 1920 Hawaiian Homes Commission Act, which provides homesteads for native Hawaiians. It was his dream to save the rapidly declining Hawaiian race from extinction. His plan was to return tenement dwellers to the land and encourage them to be self-sufficient farmers, ranchers and homesteaders on leased parcels of reserved land.

The territorial legislature designated his birthday a holiday in 1949. Unfortunately, the "day off" is often offset by Spring Break, which usually coincides with it.

Boo Hoo, Barry
So now it looks like Barry Bonds may miss a good chunk of the season because of his second knee surgery, and because the media got to him.

And the tears ... well, there aren't any, except from the master of self-pity himself:

"You wanted me to jump off the bridge. I finally jumped," Bonds said. "You wanted to bring me down. You finally have brought me and my family down. You've finally done it, everybody, all of you. So now go pick a different person. I'm done."

That would be great IMO, the idea of Barry Bonds being done with baseball, but I don't think he meant "done" the way we wish he meant it.

Now Bonds is on crutches. Is he also off the juice? Is he going to finish his pursuit of Ruth and Aaron with what God and the gym gave him, instead of adding advanced anabolic chemistry to the equation?

I'm actually thankful for the fact I won't have to think about it again for a few more months.

Anyone else watching the Steroid Testimony?
Canseco, Shilling, McGuire, Palmiero, and Sosa all in one room talking about steroid use? Talk about entertainment. The testimony has been very interesting to say the least.

McGuire has been literally squirming in his seat it seems, as he doesn't want to discuss anything. He obviously has something to hide, with such quoteables as "I'm not here to discuss my past", "I have no comment on that", etc.

The fun part is going to be watching a whole lot of guys sweating how they are going to explain why they're reporting to this years spring training weighing 20 or 30 pounds less than last year.

Happy St. Pats
This happens every year to me. We go out with the intentions of drinking and eating at a Irish Pub, the line is far too long, so we compromise and end up at some crappy hole in the wall bar.

Ahh well.
Happy St. Patricks Day!

Ring around the...

Romanian doctors have removed a man's wedding ring from his penis.
The patient, who is married and has two children, told doctors he had a one night stand with another woman.

He couldn't say how the ring got onto his penis but suspected the mistress wanted to embarrass him because he fell asleep during sex.

Maybe it's just me, but wouldn't that have to be a very big ring, or a very small thing?

Happy Birthday to me!
Today (8th March) is my birthday. Happy Birthday to me! :)

I don’t think I will actually feel too old until I hit the "dirty thirty".
On a related note, I have 5 days to gloat to my wife about how things were "Back in my day". (Her birthday is on March 13th).
